ACCOMMODATION
Dovehaven House is a modern, purpose built 40-bed care home. All the fully furnished bedrooms are single rooms, 15 of which have en-suite facilities and more en-suite rooms are planned for development in the future. There are bath hoists in the main bathrooms and there are also shower facilities available. We encourage our residents to furnish their rooms in their own style and with their own belongings if they so wish to. The home is divided into 2 floors, with a lift linking both floors. There is a main lounge/dining area on each floor as well as a specialised recreational room on the ground floor, which is especially designed to give the impression of being a pub. On the first floor is a sensory room that has been professionally laid out in order to resemble the outdoors. The sensory room has a rather pleasing beach house theme. This facility boasts the latest in sensory equipment including; bubble lamps, fibre optics, projector simulators and soothing music, all of which enhance the tranquility of the experience for our residents.

Dovehaven House has two secure garden areas, firstly the courtyard, which has ample seating, a shrubbery and central water feature. The second garden area is towards the rear of the building and has an attractive countryside view that includes horses in the neighbouring field along with various forms of wildlife that are often seen. Both our outdoor areas provide pleasant, attractive surroundings to spend sunny afternoons.

SERVICES
At Dovehaven House, we have an in-house hairdressing salon where our residents can have their hair styled at a very reasonable price. We have a local chiropodist, optical specialists and ministers of all denominations who are available to visit residents upon request.

We have a full programme of activities for our residents including an armchair exercise programme to promote physical dexterity and co-ordination. Our in-house activities co-ordinator encourages mental stimulation and creativity with a varied programme of other activities for our residents to enjoy. On regular occasions we will invite outside entertainers to come to Dovehaven House too.

We have a specially adapted minibus that we use for our weekly coach outings. This has long been a particular favourite pastime for our residents. The coach will travel to scenic locations within the local region where our residents can enjoy refreshments whilst admiring the views.

Home cooked meals prepared by our experienced cook are served daily with particular attention being paid to various forms of special dietary requirements. Our residents are all given as much or as little assistance as they may require with their dietary requirements.

PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
Our aim is to provide the best possible care for any person whom may be elderly and/or mentally infirm. Our philosophy states that elderly people with a mental disorder have the same rights as every other person and should each be treated as individuals. At Dovehaven House, we promote the independence of all of our residents and we adopt a flexible and individual approach to the care of each individual. Our friendly staff make it their priority to ensure that the needs of our residents are dealt with in a professional and caring way.

We place the rights of our residents at the forefront of our philosophy of care and we seek to advance these rights in the services that we provide.

We also recognise that life in any communal setting and the administration of personal care may be inherently invasive of a person’s privacy. We therefore continually strive to promote a homely, familiar, trusting and relaxed atmosphere at Dovehaven House.

STAFF
Our quality trained staff will be on hand to help to support our residents in a manner that is both professional and unobtrusive, promoting independence as well as a sense of well-being and security. Our philosophy states that attention to detail makes the difference and our staff are trained, as well as prepared, to go the extra mile. All residents are treated as individuals and our focus will be on what they can do for themselves, and not what they are no longer capable of.

From the manager
