Bickerton House in Bracknell, Berkshire, is a purpose-built care home with its own hair salon, coffee shop and cinema. Relaxing lounges, landscaped gardens, and bedrooms with en-suite facilities, all add to the level of luxury that residents can enjoy.
The warm, compassionate team provide a range of care services, from residential and nursing care to specialist dementia care, on a short stay and permanent basis. Every aspect of a resident’s care is tailored to their exact needs and wishes.
The lifestyle team organises daily group activities and regular entertainment and outings, and the home has also built strong ties with the community, enabling residents to enjoy activities and events with local schools, churches and charities.
From the manager
“As Home Manager at Bickerton House, the most important part of my role is to make sure residents feel safe. A big part of what I do is supporting my team. In particular, helping them navigate the healthcare sector which is always growing and developing. With that in mind, you also need to be well organised and approachable. It helps that I can draw on my 15 years of experience and level five qualification in leadership. When I first joined Care UK, I did so because its ethos reflected my own values and beliefs. A career highlight for me is the fact I have been able to work my way up through dedication and learning. Now, I feel proud to be part of a strong team that I have also helped grow. For us, it is about celebrating each other’s achievements and seeing how we can do even better. Every day is different, but my favourite part is being able to spend time with residents and their families. I love finding out about their lives, getting to know them and listening to their wealth of knowledge. Outside of work, we are an adventurous family and enjoy road trips and holidays. Having a very sporty son also means we spend a lot of time out and about supporting his activities.”
