As a new purpose-built, luxury care home in Newport, The Grange offers family-led residential and specialist dementia care for up to 40 residents. Situated in the Debden Grange Retirement Village, our care home is close to Saffron Walden and just a short drive from Cambridge.

The Grange offers high-end facilities in a comfortable, safe setting. As with all Country Court Care Homes, our staff offer highly compassionate, personalised care, that is tailored to the needs of each individual. For our residents who are independent, it is a place to live as they would normally, with the comfort of 24-hour care and the added pleasure of company (and no chores!). For residents in need of more specialist attention, particularly those living with dementia, we get to know their specific needs and requirements to ensure they are comfortable and happy in their own environment.

Our Home

The Grange Care Home near Saffron Walden is a purpose-built state-of-the-art care home with a luxury hotel feel. Residents enjoy comfortable en-suite rooms, cinema room and pub opening out onto a generous terrace to take advantage of long summer evenings. The home is fully equipped to provide the very best residential and dementia care.

Bedrooms

All 40 bedrooms at The Grange are luxurious and tastefully decorated, making them both comfortable and relaxing places to be. All bedrooms are en-suite, with walk-in wet rooms to aid independent living, however, there are assisted bathrooms on each floor for residents who prefer a bath or require a little more help with their personal care.

Lounge & Dining

Each floor of The Grange has its own lounge and dining areas. The Audley Suite opens out onto a large terrace where residents will be able to enjoy afternoon tea in the sunshine with their guests and visitors in the summer months. In addition to this, our hospitality team will be on hand to serve hot and cold beverages, delicious cakes, bakes and snacks available around the clock.

Pub

The Spitfire Arms is a wonderful destination within our home, our residents and their visitors can pop in any time for a drink and to watch the football or play a game of darts, just as they've always done at their village local. We often host entertainers, quizzes and games as social occasions too.

Hair & beauty

For many of our residents, a set and blow dry are part of their weekly calendar! They love a trip to our Elegance Salon to see the hairdresser, finding it a great boost for their overall well-being. For those that like to keep their nails looking smart, our activities team are on hand to offer hand pampering and manicures too.

Cinema

Our residents love movie night and what better place to watch your favourite film than in your very own cinema. Complete with comfy seating, pop-corn machine and big screen; our cinema is a great location to enjoy a family favourite, musical or comedy with friends.

Garden

For many of our residents, spending time in the garden is their favourite pastime. Whether it’s taking afternoon tea outdoors in the summer or getting involved in our annual gardening competition, we all love to spend time outside. Should they wish to, residents can take responsibility for their own planters and vegetable patches, continuing to pass on their horticultural expertise to others.

Fine Dining Experience

Mealtimes are a social occasion at The Grange. We have our own kitchen where our cooks produce a wonderful range of menus, catering to our residents’ tastes and care plans. Our chef, Ben, regularly consults residents when planning menus and can often be found chatting with residents in the dining room and getting valuable feedback first-hand. We plate all our meals, as you would at home, for an enjoyable and dignified dining experience. We’re passionate that eating at The Grange Care Home is a real culinary experience – we even have our own Instagram account showcasing our delicious daily menus.

Georgina Cross

Chef Manager

Georgina is our Chef Manager at The Grange Care Home, Georgina relishes the challenge of creating dishes that will keep residents excited to come to the dining room at mealtimes. She loves to get to know our residents likes and dislikes and will be providing the highest standards of fine dining for our residents.

Lijo Varghese

Home Manager

Lijo Varghese is our Home Manager at The Grange Care Home. Lijo has been in various managerial roles in a care home setting since 2017, starting as a Clinical Nurse Manager. He has been a registered nurse since 2007 and specialised in diabetes with a growing passion to care for others. Lijo loves to see residents smile and will always be there to support his staff, residents, and family. He is excited to be our home manager and part of our wonderful team in Newport.
