Located in the historic market town of Bishop’s Stortford, Conewood Manor is a quiet and welcoming care home led by a passionate team of carers and nurses. The team specialises in providing care for a variety of age groups with complex life conditions such as sensory impairments and dementia.

The beautiful building which forms the main part of the home is Grade 2 listed. It contains many authentic antique features that evoke a sense of timelessness and nostalgia that the residents find deeply comforting. The 44 bedrooms have dementia-friendly features, state of art facilities such as electrically adjustable beds, enhanced lights, nurse call bells, and en-suite wet rooms.

After the recent £1.8 million refurbishments, a spacious 6-bedroom extension has been added along with new communal areas and landscaped outdoor spaces where the residents love to sit, chat, and stroll on sunny days.

The Home Manager, Attila Gyarmati, leads the team of 50 carers and nurses all of whom share a common passion for delivering care that is deeply personal. The in-house chef handpicks the items on the home menu to suit the nutritional needs of residents. The rhythm of life in the home is relaxed without ever becoming dull. Events are hosted throughout the week for residents, and the local vicar visits the home regularly to ensure the emotional wellbeing of the residents.

From the manager

“I have been the manager at Conewood Manor since March 2014. Prior to that, I was the deputy manager at several other homes and has a nursing background. I became a UK-registered nurse in 2010, and a qualified social worker in 2012. My passion is to ensure all residents receive excellent care regardless of the length of their stay with us.”

— Attila Zoltan Gyarmati
